HIGHER ART COURSE IN PRESERVATION AND RESTORATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE, SPECIALITY IN PAINTING / Enseñanzas Artísticas Superiores de Conservación y Restauración de Bienes Culturales. Pintura

 

 

The aim of this qualification is to train competent professionals to establish, direct and perform the technical study, preservation, conservation and restoration of the assets and objects that form cultural heritage with the ability to adapt accordingly to the social and technological changes which can occur. The professional profile of the technician will be that of a specially quailed in the preservation and restoration of pictorial artworks and the constituent materials. Also they will be able to determine the necessary intervention criteria and strategies with the required knowledge , skills and abilities to determine, define and carry out procedures on the pictorial artwork which form the Cultural Heritage, guaranteeing its integrity and longevity. The qualification confers the ability to perform several professional activities such as:

   -Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Assets, specifically paintings and the management 

of other specialities.

   -Assessment the condition of the Cultural Heritage

   -Elaboration of technical specifications, budgets, diagnoses and intervention proposals and final reports.

   -Elaboration and management of teams in Restoration Projects.

   - The Preventative Preservation of Collections

  -Technical advice in the installation of Art Exhibitions, transport, and Preservation and Conservation treatment

  -Management, diffusion and valuation of Collections

   -Research and Teaching.

 

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

-Conservator-restorer in public institutions in charge of the preservation and restoration of our cultural heritage (Museums, Archival institutions and Libraries etc.)

-Conservator-restorer in private institutions with competences or authority in conservation and restoration of cultural heritage (Foundations/institutions, cultural venues etc,)

-Hired professional or manager in preservation and restoration business, art galleries, antique shops, etc.

-Expert in information, documentation and divulgation in Museums, publishers, communication cabinets, companies, scientific institutions printing press or television, etc in the area of the heritage conservation and restoration.

-Technical adviser in designing and assembling exhibitions, transportation of masterpieces/works of art/artistic works, prevention measures in case of a disaster etc.

-heritage manager with the involvement of museums, archives, libraries, foundations/institutions or other public or private institutions.

-Teacher or researcher in any area related to the cultural heritage, not only national but also international through educational or research institutions .

 

ACCESS

Requirements needed to access advanced artistic studies

In order to enroll in Higher Art Dramatic Courses, Music, Design Plastic Arts and Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, candidates must have Bachillerato in Arts or have passed Admission University exam for people over 25 years old as well as passing the specific test mentioned in the articles 54,55,56 y 57 in Organic Law 2/2006 3rd May

Will be able to access

 

The candidates older than 18 or the ones who will be 18 the same year they are taking part in the tests, and they are not in possession of the academic requirements previously mentioned, They must pass a maturity test so that they can take a specific test to access.

 

In order to enroll directly in Higher Arts Design, Plastic Arts and Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage without taking any access test, candidates who have Higher Plastic Arts and Design.

 

FEATURES OF THE SPECIFIC TEST

 

1st EXERCISE : Commenting a Text

CONTENT:  Commenting a text about Preservation-Restoration, Artistic Heritage, Artistic Activities, etc.  It will probably be taken from updated mass media both the resource from which it was taken and its date must be published.

EVALUATION CRITERIA:

Spelling and syntactic correction; usage of language properly.

Usage of adequate linguistic and historic vocabulary.

Identification, analysis, summary and explanation of the suggested Ideas.

The candidate must interpretate the text with clear, concise, accurate argumentation.

MARK: From 0 to 10 points

PERCENTAGE OF THIS TASK IN THE FINAL MARK:  35%

2nd EXERCISE: NATURAL DRAWING

CONTENT:  A real model suggestion, preferably a plaster bust. Mimetic approach

 TECHNIQUE: Preferably with charcoal but other techniques can also be used chosen by the candidate and they must belong to artistic drawing field.

Remaining true to the model

Fitting and proportionality

Values of shade and chiaroscuro achieved level

MARK : From 0 to 10 points

PERCENTAGE OF THIS TASK IN THE FINAL MARK: 30%

3rd EXERCISE: PRACTICAL TASK
CONTENT: Similar to the suggested previous years before and it must be performed with the proposed materials.

PERCENTAGE OF THIS TASK IN THE FINAL MARK: 35%

 

ORDEN EDU/324/2016, 20th April, which regulates the admission tests to Superior Artistic studies of Drama, Music, Design Plastic Arts and Conservation of Cultural Heritage. The Music level test and the admission level test to Artistic Master Studies and it establishes the admission process to state centers/schools in Castilla y León .

According to Royal Decree 96/2014 14th February, published on 5th March, the obtained Degree corresponds to Higher National Degree in Superior Artistic Studies assigned to level 2 Título de Graduado (Degree) which qualifies to Higher Education and a Masters in Artistic Studies.

ADAPTATION YEAR IN ORDER TO OBTAIN SUPERIOR DEGREE IN PRESERVATION AND RESTORATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE SPECIALIY IN PAINTING

It is offered annually according to ORDEN EDU/736/2013, 6th September, which regulates the procedure to obtain the Higher Art Course in Design and Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage established by Organic Law 2/2006, 3rd May, Education, for people who are already enrolled in the same or different speciality according to Organic Law  1/1990, 3rd October, which establishes the General Educational System or those which are declared equivalent regarding Royal Decree 440/1994, 11th March in Castilla y León.
